Time to change my study method?

I don’t have any method in particular that I use when I study Korean. I like to write words and sentences down because the more I write them the better I’ll remember them.

These past few weeks I’ve had no motivation to ‘study’ Korean at all. I still watch reality shows, read web comics and use naver dictionary for words I come across. However I don’t think of that as proper studying.

My university work is starting to increase and I have a 2,500 word report due on Monday which I have no idea what to write and it’s making me stressed and giving me headaches. So Korean isn’t my first priority at the moment.

I’m thinking maybe the reason I have no motivation to study Korean is because I have no real method of studying. So I want to hear about other people’s methods on studying Korean and I’ll try each one. Although, one thing I really hate is using flash cards. It doesn’t help me at all (same with making mind maps).

If anyone has any advice to give me then please leave a comment! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. My way of studying Korean is the traditional learning-from-a-book method. I think this works well for beginners the most. But since you can already read webcomics on Naver and you seem to have a decent command of the language, I would suggest listening to the radio (there are so many radio streaming apps on the android) when you’re in the bus/car, attempting to read a book in Korean (you can search for books that are simple enough for people learning Korean) during your free time, and for you to continue watching those variety shows.

I think this way, you integrate Korean into your life without actually sitting at a desk and trying to study the language when you’re already so busy with school. That’s what I’m planning to do once my Korean improves.

Hope this helps and good luck with that report. I always have a break down before a major writing assignment not knowing how to start and end up pulling an all-nighter the day before the deadline XP College sucks.

    1. Oh wow, using the radio is a good idea, I never even thought of that! Do you have any app in particular in mind?

Oh yeah I’m the same, even if I try start it earlier I always end up doing an all-nighter! Haha

      1. Radio FM’s android app works for me (it airs stations from all over the world and it’s free) and it has 28 South Korean radio stations so that’s a good choice. There are many other apps that I haven’t tried that could be better but this is just a suggestion~ ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. ํž˜๋‚ด์š”~ Academic life is also taking all my time that I could only have my Korean study through listening to TalkToMeInKorean ์ด์•ผ๊ธฐ’s during meal break and commuting to and fro school.

    1. Ohh TalkToMeInKorean seem like a good idea if you only have a short period of free time! Do you know if you can download the podcasts/recordings and put them onto your phone?
