Korean books from Waterstones

Today I finished my 2nd exam and had some time to spare before going back to the flat so I took a trip to Waterstones which is a British bookstore. Usually, in the Waterstones I have been to there are very little books about Korea or learning Korean however today I found some!

The two books I bought are pictured below. Together the cost came to £30 (ㅠㅠ) but they are worth it in my opinion.

This is a history book about Korea starting from the 4th Century. 승환 (내 남친) told me that Korea has even more history before this but I’m really happy I found a proper history book which wasn’t too expensive (the price was £18). I am interested in asian history – they had a lot more history books about Japan- and this was the only copy so I bought it straight away. So far, looking at it it seems really interesting and I can’t wait to start reading it once this post is published!

This book is somewhat a history about North Korea. There were two books to choose from regarding North Korea but this book is more recent (2014) so I decided to buy this one. I have a few books about North Korea, mainly personal accounts of people who defected to South Korea, but this one seems more educational (not sure that’s the right word here).

I’m just glad I found books about Korea in my local bookstore because that never happens to me! Have you read any books about Korean history? Or are you not interested in it? Leave a comment!

    1. Yeah I’ve nearly finished the History of Korea one 🙂 it’s really interesting but the book uses a lot of words that I don’t understand. Other than that, I really like it!

      1. I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying it ;3
I think that textbooks about history are reader friendly, but serious books about it are rather difficult.
